An exciting 6 month secondment opportunity has arisen within the department of Laboratory Medicine at University Hospitals Southampton as an Associate Practitioner.
The role includes working across the Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Automated Biochemistry laboratories. This is an exciting, face paced and variable role. The department is equipped with modern automation including Beckman biochemistry analysers, Sysmex blood counters, ACL 'TOP' coagulation analysers and Ortho Vision blood grouping machines. Laboratory Medicine holds ISO 15189 UKAS accreditation.
The role will involve processing a range of pathological specimens under the supervision of qualified scientists for screening, diagnostic and monitoring purposes and provide accurate, timely and appropriate analytical data.
Applications are invited from well organised, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals with a keen interest in laboratory diagnostics. The successful candidates will be prepared to take a multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare delivery.
After a period of training, you will be required to work flexibly on a 24/7 shift system, which includes nights, weekends and Bank Holidays. Hours average out to 37.5 hours per week

Getting to Work
Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes. This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited. UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible. UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
