The Citi Architecture and Technology Engineering (CATE) group comprises a few hundred leading technology subject-matter experts who assess the marketplace, select technologies for global use and adoption with Citi and deliver these technologies to the corporation in a certified, standardized, repeatable and operationally-ready form.  The group is truly global in nature, spread across North America, Europe and Asia and provides solutions to the whole of Citi. 


The Storage Engineering team within CATE is responsible for the engineering lifecycle for all centralized/shared storage technologies including SAN arrays, fabrics, NAS, Backup and archival  and software defined file, block and object ecosystems.


This role sits within the engineering group with Storage Engineering and will take responsibility for building next generation self service operational recovery systems by leveraging off the shelf vendor products such as Actifio, VMware, Netbackup, Networker etc.

Self-service applications, as well as reporting applications for core technologies within Citi's global SAN, NAS and Backup environments are also in scope.


Working as part of a truly global team across Singapore, London, New Jersey and Dallas, the role will be responsible for requirements gathering, platform selection, design, development, testing and deployment, as well as ongoing maintenance.




Skills and Experience:


• Basic understanding of  storage and backup technologies and enterprise experience
• Extensive years of combined software development experience in Java, c#, c++, NodeJS, Python, or Golangyears of combined software development experience in Java, c#, c++, NodeJS, Python, or Golang
• Minimum years with Golang
• Object Oriented Programming
• Asynchronous programming
• Regular Expressions
• Web UI development with Javascript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS 1.x
• REST API services development
• SQL and No-SQL databases
• Source control with Git
• Agile development experience
• Published open source software on

Additional valuable skills:


• ElasticSearch REST API and Search concepts
• Extracting text and metadata from documents using Apache Tika


The successful candidate is likely to be educated to undergraduate level or above in a technical or scientific discipline.  They will have extensive experience working at a very detailed and hands-on level with software development. Ideally they have spent a number of years working in a software developer role in a major multi-national corporation and have a strong understanding of operational needs and pressures.

Aside from the essential technical skills and experience above, they will possess strong communications skills and particularly excellent spoken and written English since this is the primary language of the global team. Given the scale and truly global nature of Citi, the ability to write in a clear, logical and compelling manner is particularly important.  The individual will need to be comfortable working both as part of a team and individually on specific projects, able to collaborate easily across teams and able to nurture partnerships and seek mutual benefit.   Whilst travel is not a significant aspect of the role, it will occasionally be necessary and the ability to work collaboratively with a global team across ASPAC, EMEA and NA is essential, requiring flexibility on working hours.  They must possess strong analytical skills and be able to get to very detailed levels of understanding in new technology areas rapidly and efficiently. Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience. Valuing Diversity: Demonstrates an appreciation of a diverse workforce.
